Crew (2024)

The heist is the flimsiest part of Crew, and it barely matters while Tabu, Kareena Kapoor Khan and Kriti Sanon share the screen. The setup: paychecks at Kohinoor Airlines stopped months ago. Geeta Sethi, once a beauty queen, now props up her husband Arun’s food business and her out-of-work brother. Jasmine Kohli lives large on social media and wants to launch a cosmetics line. Divya Rana has a pilot’s training but no pilot’s job, so she serves passengers instead and keeps that from her family. When the three stumble into a gold-smuggling racket inside their own airline, they decide to cut themselves in, hiding the gold in chocolate boxes. Critics loved the trio, especially Kapoor Khan, and called it light and breezy. They also found the screenplay thin and some jokes cheesy. It holds a 67% on Rotten Tomatoes, though its movie.guru score is a 4.1. A 5.9 because three stars this good make a thin script fly. $276 says you eye the next box of airport chocolates a little too closely.

What works: Tabu, Kareena Kapoor Khan and Kriti Sanon have breezy, funny chemistry, and Kapoor Khan in particular looks born for her role.

What doesn’t: The screenplay is thin, the smuggling plot leans on convenience, and a fair share of the jokes land as cheesy rather than sharp.

Who it’s for: Anyone who wants a light, glossy caper with three big stars, and fans of Hindi comedies that put women in charge.
