How Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Infinity Castle Performed
movie guru's TLDR

Every time a fight in Infinity Castle hits top speed, somebody’s tragic past barges in and hits pause. Fans will call that tradition. Everyone else will check the runtime, which is 155 minutes. It’s also the first part of a trilogy, so it ends right where a second act should kick in. But that castle. Muzan traps the Demon Slayer Corps inside a fortress of rooms that shift and rearrange like a sliding tile puzzle, and Ufotable makes every corridor feel bottomless. Zenitsu facing the senior student who betrayed their old teacher is a sharp, painful duel. The long fight between Tanjiro, Giyu and Akaza is the centerpiece, and the story it uncovers about who Akaza used to be lands harder than any sword swing. It’s rated R and the battles are intense, so it’s not for younger kids. It made $793.6 million worldwide on a reported $20M. A 7.9 because the animation is staggering and the pacing keeps tripping over itself. $564 says you spend the drive home ranking the Hashira and start a real argument about it.

What works: The animation is breathtaking, the shifting castle is a brilliant setting, and the Akaza fight builds to real emotion.

What doesn’t: Flashbacks keep stopping the momentum, and as the first part of a trilogy it ends without any real resolution.

Who it’s for: Fans who have kept up with the series and want its biggest battles on the biggest possible screen.

Spoilers

Shinobu falls to Doma, and Kanao steps in to take up the fight. Zenitsu defeats Kaigaku, and Akaza, remembering the life and the love he lost, chooses to stop fighting and accept defeat, while Muzan still holds Tamayo captive.

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Infinity Castle's Blurbs
About me:

The demon king Muzan Kibutsuji finally makes his move, pulling the entire Demon Slayer Corps into the Infinity Castle, his own impossible fortress of endless rooms, and splitting everyone up. Tanjiro Kamado (Natsuki Hanae), Zenitsu Agatsuma (Hiro Shimono) and Inosuke Hashibira (Yoshitsugu Matsuoka) carve through waves of demons, while Hashira like Giyu Tomioka (Takahiro Sakurai) and Shinobu Kocho (Saori Hayami) search for Muzan and run into his strongest Upper Ranks. Haruo Sotozaki directs the first film of a planned trilogy adapting the manga's Infinity Castle arc. One hundred fifty-five minutes, no breathing breaks.

Who I'd like to meet:

Anyone who knows a breathing technique. A map of the castle is strongly preferred.
