El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie's Interests
GeneralChevy El Caminos, vacuum repair shops, desert highways, Albuquerque apartments, a fresh start.
MusicDave Porter, keeping the Breaking Bad hum alive in every tense, quiet stretch.
MoviesNo Country for Old Men (2007). More desert, more dread, way less talking.
TelevisionBetter Call Saul. The rest of the Albuquerque story, told from the lawyer's side.
HeroesSkinny Pete and Badger. Loyal to the end, terrible at keeping a low profile.

How El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie Performed
movie guru's TLDR

El Camino exists to answer exactly one question, and the answer is the one most fans already gave themselves years ago. It’s a lovely epilogue, but it’s still an epilogue, and anyone who never watched Breaking Bad will be lost by the second scene. For everyone else, Aaron Paul is the reason to show up. Jesse is jumpy, haunted and running on fumes, and Paul plays it so raw you almost look away. The flashbacks with Jesse Plemons run long, but they explain why every small sound makes Jesse flinch. Robert Forster’s Ed is the best thing in it, a vacuum repair guy who helps people vanish and never once raises his voice. Skinny Pete and Badger get a goofy, loyal reunion. A showdown at a welding shop plays like an old western. It cost a reported $6M and looks way richer. A 7.4 because Paul gives Jesse a real goodbye and the movie adds little the show hadn’t already said. $562 says you pass a vacuum repair shop this year and wonder who’s waiting in the back.

What works: Aaron Paul’s raw, haunted performance, Robert Forster’s calm vacuum repair man, and a tense showdown that plays like an old western.

What doesn’t: It’s built only for fans of the show, the flashbacks run long, and it mostly confirms an ending people had already imagined.

Who it’s for: Breaking Bad fans who wanted one last drive with Jesse. Newcomers should start with the show.

Spoilers

A late flashback brings back Walter White for one quiet diner breakfast. Jesse wins the welding shop showdown, gets enough money for Ed’s help and leaves a letter for Brock, and Ed drives him north to Alaska, where he heads off into the snow, finally free.

El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie's Blurbs
About me:

Picking up right after the Breaking Bad finale, Jesse Pinkman (Aaron Paul) is free, shaken, and the most wanted man in Albuquerque. He crashes with his old friends Skinny Pete (Charles Baker) and Badger (Matt Jones), who do what they can, but the police are closing in and his face is all over the news. His only way out is Ed (Robert Forster), the quiet vacuum repair guy who helps people disappear for a price, and Jesse is short on cash. Vince Gilligan writes and directs. One hundred twenty-two minutes, one last getaway.

Who I'd like to meet:

Anyone who can keep a secret and lend a guy a car. No questions.
