How Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2 Performed
movie guru's TLDR

Hogwarts finally gets its big battle, the payoff for the entire saga, and a lot of it happens while Harry is upstairs hunting a lost tiara in a room full of junk. The final face-off is a little goofy too, two wizards flying around the castle like they got stuck together. Everything else earns the ending. Gringotts gets robbed on the back of a blind dragon. Maggie Smith brings the castle’s stone statues to life and looks thrilled about it. Neville turns into an action hero right in front of us. And Alan Rickman gets the best scene of the whole series, one I’m not allowed to talk about up here. The movie.guru score is a 9.3, Elite, and the $1.34 billion worldwide is the biggest Potter haul by a mile. An 8.8 because it lands the whole saga in 130 minutes without dragging its feet. $966 says you rewind the Alan Rickman scene and claim something got in your eye.

What works: The Gringotts heist, Neville’s big moment, and an Alan Rickman scene that reframes the whole series.

What doesn’t: Too much of the battle plays out while Harry is off searching storerooms, and the final duel looks clunky next to everything before it.

Who it’s for: Anyone who grew up with these kids, and anyone who has been waiting years to see Neville get his due.

Spoilers

Snape’s memories show he loved Lily and protected Harry all along, and that Harry carries a piece of Voldemort’s soul. Harry walks into the forest to be killed, comes back, and Voldemort falls after Neville destroys Nagini. The epilogue sends the next generation off on the Hogwarts Express.

Guru’s Take

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2's Blurbs
About me:

Picking up right where Part 1 left off, Harry (Daniel Radcliffe), Ron (Rupert Grint) and Hermione (Emma Watson) still have Horcruxes to track down before Lord Voldemort (Ralph Fiennes) tracks them down first. Step one: rob Gringotts, the most heavily guarded bank in the wizarding world, with a goblin named Griphook (Warwick Davis) and a very convincing Bellatrix Lestrange (Helena Bonham Carter) disguise. Step two: get back inside Hogwarts, which is now run by Severus Snape (Alan Rickman). David Yates directs the final chapter of the whole saga. One hundred thirty minutes, one last trip to Hogwarts.

Who I'd like to meet:

Anyone who has read all seven books twice. No spoilers in the common room.
