Three little words carry the entire plot of Jatt & Juliet 3, and the two people who need to say them won’t, which is a long runway for one confession. Diljit Dosanjh plays Fateh Singh and Neeru Bajwa plays Senior Constable Pooja Singh, Punjab police officers sent to Bristol, England, on an assignment that quickly goes sideways. They’re secretly in love, each is convinced it’s one-sided, and each is holding out for the other to crack first. Jagdeep Sidhu wrote and directed this spiritual successor to the first two films, with both leads back in their old roles. The Indian Express loved the humor, the one-liners, the performances and the music. NDTV called it a middle-brow romcom that trips over the big messages it tries to squeeze in about gender equality and social harmony. Its movie.guru score is a 2.2. A 4.6 because Dosanjh and Bajwa are good company and the lectures slow everything down. $397.28 says you send the first text tonight, just so you never end up like Fateh and Pooja.
What works: Dosanjh and Bajwa slip easily back into their roles, and the one-liners and songs keep things moving.
What doesn’t: It stumbles whenever it stops to deliver messages about gender equality and social harmony, and the will-they plot runs long.
Who it’s for: Fans of the first two Jatt & Juliet films and of Diljit Dosanjh’s easygoing Punjabi romcoms.
We won’t spoil who says it first. The mission in Bristol is mostly the backdrop; the real question is the confession, and the film stretches it as far as it will go.
Fateh Singh (Diljit Dosanjh) and Senior Constable Pooja Singh (Neeru Bajwa) are two Punjab police officers sent to Bristol, England, on a mission that does not go to plan. The bigger problem: they're secretly in love with each other, each one is sure the feeling isn't mutual, and each is waiting for the other to say it first. Jasmin Bajwa plays Divjot Kaur. Jagdeep Sidhu writes and directs this spiritual successor to Jatt & Juliet and Jatt & Juliet 2. One hundred thirty-seven minutes, two cops, zero confessions so far.
Anyone too stubborn to say it first. Somebody has to blink.
