One Night Only (2026)

One Night Only builds an entire federal law around a rom-com gimmick, then refuses to explain a single rule of it. In this New York, singles get one legal night a year to pair up, a company hands out wrist tattoos that change color when the clock starts, and nobody in it wonders who voted for any of it. The satire stops at a couple of jokes about voters. What’s left is a nice night-out comedy with a strange engine bolted on. Monica Barbaro and Callum Turner carry it anyway. She’s Allie, a singer who records covers for commercials and freezes on stage. He’s Owen, a pizza guy whose big proposal plan falls apart over sushi. Molly Ringwald and LeVar Burton are a treat as his mom and her partner. It made $25.2 million worldwide on a reported $25M. A 4.4 because the leads have real spark and the world around them makes zero sense. $59.63 says you peek at your wrist at midnight tonight, like a glowing tattoo might have shown up while you weren’t looking.

What works: Barbaro and Turner have easy, goofy chemistry, and Allie’s stage-fright arc pays off sweetly when she finally sings in front of a party crowd.

What doesn’t: The high concept raises a hundred questions about how this law works and the script answers none of them, so the satire fizzles almost immediately.

Who it’s for: Rom-com fans who will forgive a wobbly premise for two charming leads and an all-night scramble across New York.
