One of Them Days (2025)

The entire crisis in One of Them Days comes down to one boyfriend with a T-shirt company, and somehow that’s plenty. Keke Palmer’s Dreux is a waitress with a big job interview, SZA’s Alyssa is a painter who still believes in Keshawn, and the rent they both thought he paid is due by six. Keshawn, it turns out, spent it. What follows is a day of terrible ideas across Baldwin Village: a payday loan office, a blood donation center, a pair of Jordans hanging off a utility pole. The structure is a string of sketches, and a couple of stops run long. But Palmer and SZA, in her first movie, have real chemistry, and their friendship feels lived in, which is why the jokes keep landing even when the plot wobbles. It holds a 94% on Rotten Tomatoes and made $51.9 million worldwide on a reported $14M budget. A 7.4 because the chemistry carries every detour. $8,418 says you text your roommate tonight asking if the rent got paid, even if you live alone.

What works: Keke Palmer and SZA have easy, believable chemistry, and the jokes come fast enough to cover the bumps.

What doesn’t: The story is a chain of sketch-sized detours, and a few of them run long or go nowhere.

Who it’s for: Anyone who has ever had a best friend, a deadline and a roommate’s boyfriend they didn’t trust.
