Nolan said ‘what if time ran backwards’ and then made a movie that proves he doesn’t need a reason, just a budget. JDW is the Protagonist, which is a real name he earned by never giving one. Pattinson shows up like a British gym bro who secretly read the final exam. Branagh’s accent was so thick the subtitles needed subtitles. Bullets fly backwards, boats explode backwards, and my brain filed a complaint in reverse. Watched the whole thing, understood maybe 40% of it, Googled a timeline cheat sheet like it was finals week, read it twice, understood it for four glorious seconds. Then I blinked and it was gone. Still an 8.7 because when you don’t understand a movie this hard, that’s a you problem and a flex for Nolan. $1000 says nobody passes on first viewing. I know I didn’t.

A CIA agent known only as the Protagonist (John David Washington) survives a botched opera house siege and gets recruited into Tenet, an outfit fighting a war with the future using objects whose entropy runs backwards. With a handler named Neil (Robert Pattinson), he goes after Andrei Sator (Kenneth Branagh), an arms dealer taking orders from people not born yet, by way of Sator's estranged wife Kat (Elizabeth Debicki). Two and a half hours, one heist that happens in both directions at once.
Anyone who understood it on the first try. Bring the cheat sheet.
