Hugh Jackman's 8 Best Movies, Ranked

Ranked

Ranked by movie.guru score. Five have claws, one has singing, one has dueling magicians, and one is the bleakest Thanksgiving ever filmed.

Number one is a time-travel movie, and Logan fans should sit down first.

  1. 8The Prestige poster
    The Prestige (2006)7.3
Ranked last here, ranked first by basically the whole internet.
8.5 on IMDb from 1.63 million votes, but critics only rank it above 68% of notable movies. Jackman's Robert Angier is a showman so jealous it's basically cardio.
  2. 7X-Men poster
    X-Men (2000)7.2
Jackman's Wolverine walked in fully formed. Nobody else did.
Audiences rank it above 75% of notable movies, critics 63%. Jackman shows up with the claws and the attitude, while everyone else is stuck reading exposition.
  3. 6Prisoners poster
    Prisoners (2013)7.4
Jackman's best acting, in the movie you'll never rewatch.
As Keller Dover, a dad who stops asking permission, he's terrifying. 153 minutes, 8.2 on IMDb from 963,777 votes, and Jake Gyllenhaal blinking like it's a plot point.
  4. 5Les Misérables poster
Jackman's Jean Valjean carries it. Russell Crowe's singing does not.
Audiences rank it above 89% of notable movies, critics only 58%. $442.8 million worldwide says the crowd won, and Anne Hathaway's big song is still undefeated.
  5. 4Deadpool & Wolverine poster
Jackman's comeback outacts Ryan Reynolds, and Reynolds wrote the jokes.
$1.34 billion worldwide on a $200 million budget, 128 minutes. Fans rank it above 91% of notable movies. Ryan Reynolds never stops talking, so Jackman handles all the glaring.
  6. 3X2 poster
    X2 (2003)8.0
The mansion raid is Wolverine at his absolute best.
$407.7 million worldwide on a $110 to $125 million budget. Jackman finally cuts loose protecting the students, and the sequel beats the original in every way.
  7. 2Logan poster
    Logan (2017)8.7
The best superhero movie that barely feels like one.
$619.2 million worldwide, 93% on Rotten Tomatoes. Patrick Stewart does career-best work as an aging Charles Xavier, and Dafne Keen barely speaks and still wins every fight. Second place only by the math.
  8. 1X-Men: Days of Future Past poster
Yes, it beats Logan. Blame the audiences, not me.
Audiences rank it above 93% of notable movies, and $746 million worldwide agrees. Jackman spends half of it stuck in the past, deeply unimpressed by the fashion.
Change my mind. Rank these yourself. Logan at number one is allowed, barely.

$47.34 says you start The Prestige to settle an argument and end up starting a new one.
