Ranked

Marvel made a lot of great movies. These aren't those. The bottom 8 by movie.guru score, counting down to the lowest.

Number one is beautifully lit and impossible to care about.

  1. 8Black Widow poster
    Black Widow (2021)6.8
Florence Pugh deserved top billing. Natasha deserved a better movie.
A $288.5 million budget for a spy movie that plays like a spinoff pilot. Audiences rank it above just 58% of notable movies. David Harbour's Red Guardian helps.
  2. 7Iron Man 2 poster
    Iron Man 2 (2010)6.3
Tony Stark sulking inside a giant donut is the highlight.
Critics rank it above just 47% of notable movies. 124 minutes of Sam Rockwell dancing and Mickey Rourke asking for his bird. It still made $623.9 million.
  3. 6Thor poster
    Thor (2011)6.0
Asgard looks huge. Then it parks in New Mexico.
Tom Hiddleston's Loki is why this corner of Marvel survived. $150 million budget, 57 on Metacritic, and the tilted camera never straightens out.
  4. 5The Incredible Hulk poster
The Marvel movie even Marvel pretends never happened.
Edward Norton played Bruce Banner exactly once. $264.8 million worldwide, the lowest gross on this list. The CGI brawl with Tim Roth looks like a loading screen.
  5. 4Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness poster
Elizabeth Olsen is terrifying, and the rest is portal soup.
$955.8 million worldwide, the biggest gross here, yet audiences rank it above just 54% of notable movies. Opening weekend loved it. The rest of the year shrugged.
  6. 3Thor: The Dark World poster
Name the villain. Exactly. That's the review.
112 minutes, a $150 to $272.1 million budget, and critics rank it above just 43% of notable movies. Christopher Eccleston vanishes under elf makeup, and so does the plot.
  7. 2Thor: Love and Thunder poster
Christian Bale brought a horror movie. Nobody else did.
His Gorr is truly chilling while everyone around him riffs about screaming goats. Audiences rank it above just 34% of notable movies, on a $250 million budget.
  8. 1Eternals poster
    Eternals (2021)4.2
Gorgeous sunsets, a giant cast, and zero reasons to care.
The lowest Marvel Studios score on movie.guru, a 3.9. Audiences rank it above just 29% of notable movies. 156 minutes of magic hour lighting and lore dumps.
Change my mind. Pick the one that belongs even lower, and tell me why.

$34.21 says you still own a Funko Pop from at least one of these.
