We went hunting for Ralph Fiennes's worst movies. His floor is a 6.5. This is a roast with almost nothing to burn.

Number one made over $200 million worldwide and still finished dead last.

  1. 8The Grand Budapest Hotel poster
His bottom eight opens with a 9.3. Brag harder, Ralph.
Wes Anderson's pastel hotel scored 92% on Rotten Tomatoes and pulled $175.9 million worldwide on a reported $25M budget. If this counts as a low point, the bar is in orbit.
  2. 7Skyfall poster
    Skyfall (2012)9.0
A billion-dollar Bond movie, and he's not even the lead.
Skyfall grossed $1.11 billion worldwide with a CinemaScore of A. Fiennes is fourth on the call sheet and somehow still walks out of every scene he's in looking like the boss.
  3. 6In Bruges poster
    In Bruges (2008)8.5
Ranked too low. This deserves to sit way higher.
Audiences beat 93% of movies with it, critics only 73%. The Guru's Take is 8.8, above its 8.5. Domestic gross was just $7.8 million, so go fix that.
  4. 528 Years Later: The Bone Temple poster
The best sequel in the franchise that half of you skipped.
91% on Rotten Tomatoes, 81 on Metacritic, an A minus CinemaScore. Then it grossed $58.5 million worldwide against a reported $63M budget. Theaters were empty and wrong.
  5. 4Conclave poster
    Conclave (2024)8.0
Critics adored the cardinals. Audiences wanted more fireworks.
Critics beat 89% of movies with it, audiences 72%. A B+ CinemaScore for a 93% Rotten Tomatoes thriller. It's two hours of men whispering in robes, and it's gripping anyway.
  6. 3The Reader poster
    The Reader (2008)7.1
The crowd overrates this one. The critics had a point.
Audiences beat 82% of movies with it, critics just 47%, and Rotten Tomatoes sits at 63%. The Guru's Take is 6.6, under its 7.1. Kate Winslet carries it, Fiennes mostly broods.
  7. 2The Menu poster
    The Menu (2022)6.6
Criminally low. His most fun performance in years.
88% on Rotten Tomatoes, but audiences only beat 54% of movies with it and gave a B CinemaScore. Guru's Take is 7.2. Some people just can't handle a tasting menu.
  8. 1Red Dragon poster
    Red Dragon (2002)6.5
Red Dragon earned last place. Fiennes didn't.
Brett Ratner made $209.2 million worldwide off a reported $78M budget, and critics shrugged at a 69% Rotten Tomatoes score. Guru's Take 6.4. Fiennes is terrifying. The movie around him is reheated.
Change my mind. Rank these from most to least underrated. Wrong answers only.

$623 says at least one of you rewatches The Menu tonight just to prove a point.
