Woody plays a madman, a mentor and a zombie hunter with the same grin. These are his 8 best by movie.guru score. The data did the ranking.

Number one made less than every blockbuster here and still beats them.

  1. 8Zombieland: Double Tap poster
A sequel ten years late that mostly coasts on charm.
Critics shrugged at 68% on Rotten Tomatoes and the Guru's take is a 5.2. Audiences still beat 62% of movies, because Woody alone is worth the ticket.
  2. 7Last Breath poster
    Last Breath (2025)6.4
The best movie on this list that nobody saw.
Only $21 million domestic for a tight survival thriller critics gave 79%. The Guru likes it more than the crowd does: 6.9 against its 6.4 score.
  3. 6Seven Psychopaths poster
Messy, loud, and still funnier than most of 2012.
Martin McDonagh's warmup act hit 82% with critics on a reported $13.5 to $15 million budget. It made only $15 million domestic, a crime this movie would respect.
  4. 5The Hunger Games poster
Woody's wig did more worldbuilding than the shaky cam.
$695 million worldwide and an A CinemaScore. But the camera wobbles like it had nine espressos, so the Guru's take is 7.3 against a 7.8 score.
  5. 4Zombieland poster
    Zombieland (2009)8.1
The best American zombie comedy ever made. Fight me.
$102 million worldwide off a reported $23.6 million budget and 89% from critics. An 8.1 score only lands fourth because the three above it are just that strong.
  6. 3War for the Planet of the Apes poster
Woody plays the villain and still gets outacted by an ape.
94% on Rotten Tomatoes, 82 on Metacritic, and Andy Serkis in motion capture runs the show. Only $146 million domestic. A lot of you skipped this. Rude.
  7. 2The Hunger Games: Catching Fire poster
The rare sequel that flat out beats the original.
An 8.7 score, an A CinemaScore, $869 million worldwide, audiences beating 90% of movies. The Guru knocks it to 8.1 because the back half sprints.
  8. 1Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri poster
A small drama beats every blockbuster Woody ever made.
Reported budget of $12 to $15 million, a 9.3 score, 88 on Metacritic. The Guru gives it 8.4 because the tone swings get bumpy. Still number one.
Change my mind. Rank these from most to least Woody. Wrong answers only.
