Critics wrote the reviews. Audiences wrote the rewatch counts. On these eight, the people holding the popcorn were right, and the numbers back them up.

Number one made $52,000 domestic. Then 264,593 people rated it anyway. Fight me.

  1. 8Bad Boys poster
    Bad Boys (1995)5.8
Two leads, zero plot, all the charm. Critics missed the point.
44% on Rotten Tomatoes, an A CinemaScore, and $141.4 million worldwide on a reported $19 to 23 million budget. The plot is a sticky note. Chemistry did the heavy lifting.
  2. 7We're the Millers poster
A fake family road trip funnier than most real ones.
Critics gave it 48%. Over 532,000 IMDb voters and $270 million worldwide disagree. Sudeikis and Aniston bicker like they've been fake-married for a decade.
  3. 6Lucky Number Slevin poster
Too clever by half, and that's exactly why it works.
Metacritic gave it 53. IMDb sits at 7.7. Morgan Freeman versus Ben Kingsley is a casting gift critics returned unopened.
  4. 5Gone in 60 Seconds poster
Pure car-theft nonsense, and the crowd paid for every minute.
Rotten Tomatoes says 25%. Audiences said $237.2 million worldwide. The script is basically a parts list, but Nicolas Cage mumbling about cars is its own genre.
  5. 4Bad Boys II poster
    Bad Boys II (2003)5.2
Too loud, too much, and audiences still gave it an A.
Critics gave it 23%. It grossed $273.3 million worldwide, and Michael Bay treated a reported $130 million budget like a dare he intended to win.
  6. 3Law Abiding Citizen poster
Ridiculous premise. Total blast. Gerard Butler outplays the whole justice system.
Metacritic gave it 34. IMDb voters gave it 7.4 across 350,446 votes, and it made $127.9 million worldwide. Yes, the logic falls apart. Nobody in the theater cared.
  7. 2Man on Fire poster
    Man on Fire (2004)6.4
Denzel's best action role, and critics handed it 39%.
IMDb 7.7 on 427,524 votes and an A minus CinemaScore. Tony Scott's jittery editing gives some people headaches. The Denzel and Dakota Fanning scenes earn everything else.
  8. 1The Boondock Saints poster
Critics buried it. The crowd dug it up and crowned it.
26% on Rotten Tomatoes and $52,000 domestic on a reported $6M budget. Then 264,593 IMDb voters gave it a 7.6. Messy? Very. Willem Dafoe still makes it worth the fight.
Change my mind. Rank these from most to least underrated. Wrong answers only for #1.
