Critics brought clipboards. Audiences brought popcorn and lungs. Eight sports movies where the crowd won by a mile, and I'm sitting in the cheap seats with them.

Number one is the cheesiest pick here, and I'll defend it forever.

  1. 8F1 poster
    F1 (2025)8.3
Critics gave it a polite B. The crowd handed it the podium.
The crowd ranked it above 93% of movies, critics above 68%. It made $634M worldwide. The racing is the argument; the plot is just the pit stop between laps.
  2. 7Rocky III poster
    Rocky III (1982)6.0
The comeback Rocky. Critics shrugged, crowds stood up.
Metacritic 57, basically a polite nod. It still pulled $124M domestic on a reported $17M budget. The story is thin, but audiences know a comeback when they see one.
  3. 6Rocky II poster
    Rocky II (1979)7.2
Nearly as good as the original. Critics called it a rerun.
Metacritic 61 treats it like leftovers. On a reported $7M budget it made $85M domestic. Same fight, sure. The crowd wanted the rematch and got it.
  4. 5Southpaw poster
    Southpaw (2015)6.7
Gyllenhaal's best physical role. Critics never got past the script.
RT 59%, Metacritic 57. Audiences gave it an A CinemaScore and a 7.3 on IMDb. The plot is a greatest-hits album of boxing cliches, and he still lands every round.
  5. 4Arthur the King poster
    Arthur the King (2024)7.0
Critics underrated this dog movie by a full leash.
Critics placed it above 41% of movies. Audiences, 84%, plus an A CinemaScore. Mark Wahlberg shares the poster with a scruffy dog, and the dog steals it. Fair trade.
  6. 3The Blind Side poster
    The Blind Side (2009)7.4
An A+ CinemaScore doesn't happen by accident. Crowd wins.
Metacritic 53 against a 92% audience beat and $256M domestic on a reported $29M. Is it tidy and sentimental? Absolutely. Families still packed theaters for it.
  7. 2Happy Gilmore poster
    Happy Gilmore (1996)5.4
The best golf comedy ever made. Yes, I said it.
Metacritic gave it a 31. Over 313,000 IMDb voters gave it a 7.0. It made $38.8M domestic on a reported $12M, and you've absolutely tried that swing.
  8. 1Rocky IV poster
    Rocky IV (1985)5.5
The best Rocky movie. Not the deepest. The best.
Critics put it above 19% of movies. Audiences, 72%. It made $300M worldwide on a reported $28M. It's mostly montages, and that is the entire point.
Change my mind. Rank these from most to least robbed by critics. Wrong answers get a training montage.

$814 says you start a Rocky marathon tonight and tap out before the snow montage.
