Bruce Willis's 8 Lowest-Scoring Movies

Posted by movie guru

Ranked

His bottom eight on movie.guru includes three Die Hard movies. Most actors would put that on a trophy shelf. Roasting it anyway, with love.

Number one is his lowest score, and probably your favorite.

  1. 8Die Hard 2 poster
    Die Hard 2 (1990)6.8
The ejector seat scene alone keeps this off the bottom.
Renny Harlin cranks every explosion up and buries the whole airport in snow. CinemaScore A, $240 million worldwide, and somehow it's in his bottom eight.
  2. 7Live Free or Die Hard poster
The PG-13 Die Hard. McClane had to watch his mouth.
Justin Long plays the hacker sidekick, a car takes out a helicopter, and physics files a complaint. A reported $110 million budget, $388.2 million worldwide.
  3. 6Die Hard with a Vengeance poster
Samuel L. Jackson steals it, and Bruce lets him.
Jeremy Irons sends them racing around New York solving riddles for 129 minutes. Audiences rank it above 80% of notable movies, critics only 44%. Easily the best Die Hard sequel.
  4. 5Red poster
    Red (2010)6.2
Retired spies with pensions and rocket launchers. Weirdly cozy.
Bruce Willis, Morgan Freeman, John Malkovich and Helen Mirren with a machine gun. $199 million worldwide. A 6.3 for a movie that's mostly charm and Malkovich carrying a stuffed pig.
  5. 4Lucky Number Slevin poster
A crime puzzle with way too much wallpaper. I love it.
Josh Hartnett leads, Morgan Freeman and Ben Kingsley play rival crime bosses across the street, and Bruce just sits there being cool. Audiences rank it above 72% of notable movies, critics 35%.
  6. 3The Fifth Element poster
Peak 1997 in every frame, and I mean that kindly.
Chris Tucker yells in leopard print, Gary Oldman does a Southern drawl, and it's glorious. $263.9 million worldwide. Critics rank it above just 40%. They're wrong.
  7. 2Unbreakable poster
    Unbreakable (2000)5.7
A slow superhero movie before anyone asked for one.
    M. Night Shyamalan, Samuel L. Jackson and a lot of rain. Opening crowds gave it a CinemaScore C. My Guru's Take is 7.7, because it aged better than anyone expected.
  8. 1Armageddon poster
    Armageddon (1998)4.7
His lowest score here, and I'd still watch it tonight.
151 minutes of oil drillers flying to an asteroid. Critics rank it above just 23% of notable movies. It made $553.7 million worldwide anyway, and you still cry at the Aerosmith song.
Change my mind. Which one is secretly his best? Defend it in the comments.

$614.26 says you put on the first Die Hard tonight to make it up to him.
