You loved the snark, the suit and the guy who builds his way out of trouble. These eight scratch the same itch. Iron Man not included, obviously.

The last pick has talking animals, and Iron Man fans will riot.

  1. 8Star Trek poster
    Star Trek (2009)9.2
Kirk is basically Tony Stark with a seatbelt problem.
Same cocky genius who breaks every rule and wins anyway. J. J. Abrams rebooted it to a 94% on Rotten Tomatoes. The lens flares are this movie's arc reactor.
  2. 7Spider-Man: Homecoming poster
The suit-tech sequel Iron Man fans didn't know they needed.
Jon Favreau and Gwyneth Paltrow show up, the gadgets are a teenager's fever dream, and it made $881M worldwide. Michael Keaton's villain beats most of Tony's.
  3. 6Black Panther poster
    Black Panther (2018)8.9
Better tech lab than Stark Industries, and I mean it.
Rich hero, secret tech nation, suits that soak up hits. A+ CinemaScore and $1.35B worldwide. The final fight looks like a video game cutscene, but the rest earns it.
  4. 5Serenity poster
    Serenity (2005)8.5
Nathan Fillion out-quips Downey on a fraction of the money.
Wisecracking captain, banter under fire, a reported $39M budget. It grossed $40.4M worldwide, so roughly nobody saw it. Fix that this weekend.
  5. 4Captain America: The Winter Soldier poster
Best Marvel movie that doesn't need a single Stark joke.
Same MCU, but it plays like a spy thriller with a shield. movie.guru score 8.7, Guru's Take 8.6. The elevator fight alone is worth the rental.
  6. 3Terminator 2: Judgment Day poster
The original metal-man blockbuster, and still the best one.
Practical effects, machines doing the heavy lifting, A+ CinemaScore. Guru's Take is 9.6, the highest on this list. Iron Man legit owes it rent.
  7. 2Avengers: Endgame poster
Mandatory for Tony fans, overstuffed for everyone else.
Robert Downey Jr. closes the loop, $2.94B worldwide, movie.guru score 9.4. Guru's Take is 7.8 because it spends way too long on victory laps.
  8. 1The Jungle Book poster
    The Jungle Book (2016)8.6
Favreau's best movie stars a bear, not a billionaire.
Same director, same playful swagger, Bill Murray doing the Downey job with fur. 94% on Rotten Tomatoes and $967.7M worldwide. Iron Man fans hate hearing this.
Change my mind. Rank these from most to least Tony Stark energy. Wrong answers welcome.

$617.29 says you skip straight to the comments to defend Iron Man's honor before finishing #1.
