Every great career has a basement. Hers has a Marvel movie, a Woody Allen thriller and a $469M hit in it. Nicer than most people's living rooms.

Number one is gorgeous, pricey, and the one you'll fight me about.

  1. 8Black Widow poster
    Black Widow (2021)7.1
Florence Pugh stole Scarlett's own solo movie.
A 7.1 with an A minus CinemaScore makes this her 'worst' only on a technicality. The real horror is the reported $288.5M budget against $379.8M worldwide.
  2. 7Match Point poster
    Match Point (2005)6.8
The best movie on this list, and it isn't close.
IMDb voters give it 7.6, yet opening crowds handed it a B minus CinemaScore. A reported $15M tennis thriller that made $85.6M worldwide. Sharper than its 6.8 suggests.
  3. 6Iron Man 2 poster
    Iron Man 2 (2010)6.5
Her Marvel debut was mostly homework for future movies.
Metacritic gave it 57, crowds gave it an A CinemaScore. $623.9M worldwide bought a sequel that spends half its runtime setting up other sequels.
  4. 5Fly Me to the Moon poster
Genuinely charming. Nobody showed up. Stream it out of guilt.
Audiences beat 70 percent of movies, critics just 41. Then it made $42.3M worldwide on a reported $100M budget. Scarlett and Channing Tatum deserved a bigger crowd.
  5. 4Don Jon poster
    Don Jon (2013)4.9
Smarter than its C+ CinemaScore, and that's the whole problem.
80 percent on Rotten Tomatoes, but audiences beat only 31 percent of movies. Joseph Gordon-Levitt made $39.4M worldwide off a reported $5M budget. People just expected a different movie.
  6. 3The Island poster
    The Island (2005)4.5
Michael Bay's most underrated movie. Yes, really.
39 percent on Rotten Tomatoes, yet 346,148 IMDb voters average 6.8. It made just $35.8M domestic on a reported $126M budget. Bay at his least smug.
  7. 2Lucy poster
    Lucy (2014)4.0
A giant hit that nobody enjoyed walking out of.
$469.1M worldwide on a reported $40M budget, then a C+ CinemaScore. Audiences beat just 22 percent of movies. The Guru's Take is 3.6, even meaner than the 4.0.
  8. 1Ghost in the Shell poster
Gorgeous, expensive, and the emptiest thing she's made.
3.7 on movie.guru, the only 'Poor' band here. 43 percent on Rotten Tomatoes and $40.6M domestic on a reported $110M budget. The visuals fans defend can't carry the script.
Change my mind. Rank these from most to least underrated. Wrong answers only.

$286.04 says the top comment is someone typing 'Lucy was fine, actually' with zero follow-up.
