Money and quality are different sports. Here are 2025's eight biggest worldwide earners, smallest gross first, with the scores saying whether your ticket was worth it.

Number one made over $2 billion, and you probably never saw it.

  1. 8F1 poster
    F1 (2025)8.3
Brad Pitt sold us a car commercial, and we bought it.
An 8.3 movie.guru score and an A CinemaScore for a plot you can predict from the poster. $634 million worldwide, on a reported budget as high as $300 million.
  2. 7How to Train Your Dragon poster
A remake nobody needed that somehow still earned its wings.
$636.9 million worldwide, a hair past F1. Audiences rated it above 94% of movies, critics only 58%. Nostalgia did most of the flying here.
  3. 6Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Infinity Castle poster
Best score here, on Avatar's snack budget.
9.2 movie.guru score, 98% on Rotten Tomatoes, $793.6 million worldwide off a reported $20 million. The catch: newcomers will be lost within minutes.
  4. 5A Minecraft Movie poster
The worst movie on this list made nearly a billion.
A 4.4 movie.guru score and 47% on Rotten Tomatoes, yet $960.4 million worldwide. Jack Black yelled at blocks, and a whole generation of kids yelled back.
  5. 4Lilo & Stitch poster
    Lilo & Stitch (2025)6.9
A billion dollars to remind you the cartoon was better.
$1.04 billion worldwide on a reported $100 million budget. Critics rated it above only 44% of movies. Audiences gave it an A because Stitch is cute, and that's the pitch.
  6. 3Avatar: Fire and Ash poster
Cameron's prettiest screensaver yet, and easily the priciest.
$1.49 billion worldwide on a reported $350 to 400 million. A 7.4 movie.guru score, 66% on Rotten Tomatoes. Gorgeous water, gorgeous fire, same blue family arguing.
  7. 2Zootopia 2 poster
    Zootopia 2 (2025)8.5
The rare billion-dollar sequel that actually earned the money.
$1.87 billion worldwide, 92% on Rotten Tomatoes, an 8.5 that critics and fans agree on. It still leans on the first one's buddy-cop formula pretty hard.
  8. 1Ne Zha 2 poster
    Ne Zha 2 (2025)8.8
The biggest movie of 2025, and most of America skipped it.
$2.27 billion worldwide, just $23.3 million domestic. An 8.8 movie.guru score, with audiences rating it above 98% of movies. Your favorite movie of 2025 probably made less.
Change my mind. Rank these from most to least worth the ticket. Wrong answers only.
