Rotten Tomatoes says 86%. Metacritic says 67. IMDb says 7.1. CinemaScore says B. Which one do you trust? Starting today, you don't have to pick. Every movie on movie.guru has a movie.guru score: one number on the same 1 to 10 scale as everything else here, built from every critic and audience score we can get our hands on.

How it works
  1. Every source gets ranked against its own history. A number only means something next to other numbers. 86% on Rotten Tomatoes beats 73% of the 2,802 notable movies released since 2000. A CinemaScore B beats only about a quarter of wide releases, because opening-night crowds grade like proud parents.
  2. Bigger samples count more. 400 critics outweigh 40. A movie with 500 IMDb votes is still a rumor.
  3. Critics and audiences split it 50/50. A million IMDb votes can't drown out every critic, and a pile of critics can't drown out the people who bought tickets.
  4. It lands on the scale. A 7.3 beats 70% of notable movies. The median movie is a 5.5, dead center of Average.
What goes in

Critics: Metacritic, the Rotten Tomatoes average rating and the Tomatometer. Audiences: IMDb users, CinemaScore, PostTrak and the Rotten Tomatoes audience score. TMDB ratings and movie.guru visitor ratings are next. Every movie page shows its own breakdown: what each source says, how many movies it beats and how much it counted. The numbers refresh every morning.

What never goes in

movie guru's own score. That's The Guru's Take, and it lives in its own section on every reviewed movie, right next to the TLDR. It's the personality. The movie.guru score is the receipts. They never mix: the build refuses to run if the Take ever touches the score.

First results

The Odyssey sits on top at 9.4, Elite. Forgotten Island follows at 8.7. Down at the other end, Other Mommy scores a 1.9. And when movie guru disagrees with the world, you'll see it on The Guru vs. the World: Last Seen Alive gets a 5.7 Take against a 2.3 movie.guru score. Somebody has to defend dollar store Rambo.

The full method, with every weight, is on the Review Scale page.
