Happy Halloween. These eight thrillers have massive IMDb vote counts and movie.guru scores that tell a much less flattering story. Let the arguing begin.

Number one has a 7.6 on IMDb and a fan club ready to riot.

  1. 8In Time poster
    In Time (2011)3.9
Great premise, spent like loose change.
490,505 IMDb votes and a 36% on Rotten Tomatoes. Time is literally money, and the movie still can't afford a second idea. Cillian Murphy deserved a better clock.
  2. 7Mission: Impossible 2 poster
The doves had more to do than the plot.
$546 million worldwide and a 3.7 movie.guru score. John Woo slows everything down to admire Tom Cruise's hair. Its audience score beats just 20% of movies.
  3. 6Lucy poster
    Lucy (2014)4.0
A movie about brain power with no brains in the script.
587,664 IMDb votes, the most famous movie on this list. CinemaScore C+. Scarlett Johansson gets smarter every scene while the story stays exactly where it started.
  4. 5The Da Vinci Code poster
Tom Hanks reading a puzzle book out loud.
$801 million worldwide off a 25% on Rotten Tomatoes. Ian McKellen shows up and has more fun than everyone else combined. The hair, Tom. We need to talk about the hair.
  5. 4Ocean's Twelve poster
    Ocean's Twelve (2004)4.3
A vacation video the cast got paid to film.
A reported $110 million budget, a 4.3 movie.guru score, and a heist nobody can explain. Clooney and Pitt look relaxed. Audiences, with a B− CinemaScore, look confused.
  6. 3Hannibal poster
    Hannibal (2001)4.4
Ridley Scott turned Lecter into a tourist.
$351 million worldwide and a 6.8 on IMDb, but a 39% on Rotten Tomatoes. Anthony Hopkins is still great. The movie around him trades quiet dread for loud shock value.
  7. 2Orphan poster
    Orphan (2009)4.5
One terrifying performance carrying a very average movie.
7.0 on IMDb from 282,188 votes, but Metacritic gives it a 42. Isabelle Fuhrman and Vera Farmiga do real work. The script mostly waits around for its big reveal.
  8. 1The Butterfly Effect poster
A dorm-room philosophy debate with a time machine.
7.6 on IMDb from 563,559 votes. Critics gave it 34% on Rotten Tomatoes and a 30 on Metacritic. Ashton Kutcher squints at journals. You loved it in high school.
Change my mind. Rank these from most to least overrated. Wrong answers will be screenshotted.

$467.12 says the comments defend The Butterfly Effect before anyone bothers sticking up for Lucy.
