These eight ruled the 2010 worldwide box office. Only some of them were actually good. Here are the receipts, ranked by money, judged by quality.
The top earner has an 8.0 score and spends an hour camping. Fight me.

Gorgeous neon wrapped around a story with no batteries.
$400 million worldwide on a reported $170M budget, and a 4.9 movie.guru score. The light cycles looked incredible. The plot looked like a screensaver.

The only grown-up movie here, and the best one.
Reported $15M budget, $414 million worldwide, 9.5 movie.guru score, A+ CinemaScore. A man practicing vowels outgrossed Tron. A little stiff in the collar, but earned every cent.
- 6
Mads Mikkelsen deserved a far better Greek myth.
$493 million worldwide for a 2.5 movie.guru score and 27% on Rotten Tomatoes. Half a billion dollars, mostly for Sam Worthington looking annoyed at the sky.
- 5
Charming Downey can't hide a movie busy selling the sequel.
$624 million worldwide and a 6.5 movie.guru score, but Metacritic sat at 57. Audiences gave it an A because Downey could read a takeout menu and win.
- 4
Earned ten times its budget and still felt like homework.
Nearly $699 million worldwide on a reported $68M budget. Audiences beat only 22% of movies on it. Fans bought tickets, then quietly rated it 5.1 on IMDb.
- 3
The rare blockbuster that actually earned the money and the hype.
$840 million worldwide, 8.3 movie.guru score, 2.88 million IMDb votes. Real weakness: half the dialogue is people explaining rules to each other. Opening crowds gave it a B+.
- 2
A billion dollars for the most forgettable movie on this list.
$1.03 billion worldwide on a reported $200M budget, and a 4.8 movie.guru score. Johnny Depp in orange hair, a lot of green screen, and zero scenes anyone quotes.

Great score, but it's half a movie about camping.
$1.06 billion worldwide and an 8.0 movie.guru score, yet critics beat just 63% of movies. A reported $250M budget, and a shocking amount of it went to a tent.
Change my mind. Rank these eight from most to least deserving of their box office.
$317.09 says someone in the comments calls the tent scenes 'character building' within the hour.
