Big vote counts, bigger box office, and movie.guru scores that land right around average. Popular isn't the same as good. Let's go.

Number one made $1.66 billion and still couldn't make a single facial expression.

  1. 8Kung Fu Panda 4 poster
    Kung Fu Panda 4 (2024)5.7
The latest bowl of noodles came out reheated.
71% on Rotten Tomatoes sounds great until the movie.guru score says 5.7, basically the median movie. Guru's Take: 5.2. Jack Black still brings it. The kick doesn't.
  2. 7Despicable Me 4 poster
    Despicable Me 4 (2024)5.8
Gru is a guest star in his own franchise now.
Audiences beat 67% of movies, critics only 34%. That gap is the Minions dragging the plot across the finish line. Guru's Take: 4.6 on $972 million worldwide.
  3. 6The Super Mario Galaxy Movie poster
A billion dollars for a level select screen.
$1.01 billion worldwide and a 37 on Metacritic. Critics beat just 20% of movies. It's fan service on a loop, and the Guru's Take is 4.2.
  4. 5Moana 2 poster
    Moana 2 (2024)6.0
The sequel nobody can hum a single song from.
$1.06 billion worldwide and 131,008 IMDb votes, but a 61% on Rotten Tomatoes. The first one gave you anthems. This one gave you a nice boat ride.
  5. 4The Secret Life of Pets poster
The trailer was the whole movie. Stretched.
240,113 IMDb votes and $876 million worldwide, for a 5.7 movie.guru score. The pets-alone-at-home bit is genius for one trailer. Then it becomes a chase movie.
  6. 3Space Jam poster
    Space Jam (1996)5.1
Nostalgia has been carrying this one for decades.
46% on Rotten Tomatoes and a 5.1 movie.guru score. Michael Jordan acts like a man counting the minutes until tee time. You loved it as a kid. You were a kid.
  7. 2Minions poster
    Minions (2015)5.0
Sidekicks are seasoning. This is a bowl of seasoning.
291,582 IMDb votes, $1.16 billion worldwide, and a 5.0 movie.guru score. Guru's Take: 4.4. Feature-length gibberish is a lot of gibberish, even yellow gibberish.
  8. 1The Lion King poster
    The Lion King (2019)6.7
A nature documentary that forgot lions need faces.
$1.66 billion worldwide on a reported $250 to $260 million budget. Audiences beat 80% of movies, critics 39%. Guru's Take: 4.9. Gorgeous fur, zero feelings.
Change my mind. Rank these from most to least overrated. Wrong answers will be screenshotted.

$247.83 says the first reply argues the 2019 Lion King isn't even animated and the second reply starts a war about it.
